I know this topic doesn't belong here but, in an attempt to get as much exposure as possible....you gotta watch USA vs Brazil Sunday at 2. For those of you who don't follow...USA beat the best team in the world, Spain, to advance to the Final against Brazil. The upset was so stunning that they are comparing it to the Miracle on Ice when the USA beat the Russians in the Olympics. Brazil should clean their clocks...or will they? Must see tv Sunday at 2. ...
I'm not sure this should be on the Steelers side rather than the House, but check this out and you decide. This is cool as hell. There's even something for Mike!
Quote:Brutal but intriguing question. If I am being honest, if my Steelers couldn't win, I would have to root for the Ravens. They have replaced the Browns for me as our most hated rival, but unlike the Ohio B's, they have a legitimacy about them. They have a good drafting, well-run front office and a punishing defense. Giving it to one of the others would feel like a pity vote, or even worse simply childish emotion. No one else would deserve it.
I can’t tell you the sense of pride I felt wearing my Steelers dress shirt to work today. Pride to be part of a band of fans - Steeler Nation - that mirrors the way its blue-collar team goes about its business, perseveres and succeeds. Or is it really the other way around? I don’t think it matters, what does is that the Steelers are now officially the best franchise of the Super Bowl era with a record six Lombardi trophies and that we can all share in the joy and camaraderie of the moment. Forgive me for still wearing my Black and Gold-colored shades today but I believe we just saw the best and most exciting Super Bowl of them all. Bradshaw vs. Staubach 1 was darn good, Montana to Taylor was excellent, Norwood wide right was dramatic as was St. Louis vs. Tennessee and a couple of the NE games, but this one takes the cake for great plays, momentum swings and classic double comebacks. Notice I didn’t include last year’s game because I don’t really think it was a great game, rather a monumental upset, much like the Jets-Colts game in SB3. Super Bowl 43 had the longest and most dramatic play in Super Bowl history, James Harrison’s 100yd INT return (more on that below). It had a future HOF QB bringing his underdog team from behind against all odds to take a late lead. Then, to top it all off, a comeback for the ages: 88 yards in 2 minutes to Super Bowl paydirt and immortal glory on a pass from a throwback QB still not given his due by anyone outside Pittsburgh to a wide receiver that was suspended for a game this year due to conduct detrimental to the team. Ben now fits comfortably in the mold of Terry Bradshaw’s legacy of playing big in big games, stats be damned. Oh, did I mention that Holmes’ game-winning catch was incredible?!?!? So many things to discuss, I’ll try to keep it under four pages.
The Good - The Steelers won the game. Let me repeat that for you non-believers and haters: THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS WON SUPER BOWL XLIII! When you get to the SB it does not matter how you win, only that you win. Our team had flat moments in all three phases, but had enough high moments to pull out a win. Ben was marvelous, the only thing between him and the MVP trophy was a large hand swatting a pass out of the air that became an INT. Other than that setback he gave life to the offense despite a spotty performance by the o-line, dismal running game, iffy play calling from the OC and Warner’s 4th quarter onslaught. His game-winning pass to Holmes was perfectly thrown, fitting for it to be Ben's first Super Bowl TD pass. I'm thinking it won't be his last.
It was obvious to me as I saw Hines run after the 38yd catch early on that he was no ...
