As far as the superbowl goes, I think Lebeau's scheme was genius. We won remember.

The defense sucked ass in the 4th quarter remember?

Who was hurt then?

He's right, the defense did indeed suck ass in the 4th quarter. I'm not sure, but I think having the corners play 20 yards off the LOS isn't really a good strategy.

This is true.  But thankfully, Arizona's defense also sucked in the fourth quarter allowing the Steelers' mediocre offense to get downfield and score the game winner.

LOL. No it didn't. We gave up one - ONE - big play to Fitzgerald and that was it. That team was rolling up points on everyone and our D held them to a very modest score.

So you don't like LeBeau? Boggles my mind anyone can say that but to each his own. But here's why he has the job of DC and you don't. Last drive by Arizona ends in a sack by Woodley. Why? Coverage sack. That's right Crash, coverage sack. 3 man rush and nowhere for the ball to go. Bet you were calling for the all out blitz weren't you? The one Arizona expected too. And that's why we won a superbowl, and he's a genius.

(not to mention a holding call in the end zone by an O lineman does not constitute a defensive meltdown in the 4th quarter. Watch the game again to see how wrong you are)

We gave up 14 points on defense in the 4th quarter.

I don't like the passive 4th quarter defense.  I hate the exchanging of small gains for time.  I want my defense to remain aggressive.  If you give up a quick score?  At least you give the offense the ball back.

Getting milked for long drives to end games doesn't help at all.

No Poke, we won the Super Bowl because our offense went 88 yards and saved Dick LeBeau's defense's ass after they gave up 14 points in the final period.

Talk about half empty over half full! Crash, you're the only fan I know who can find fault in a superbowl winning season.

I'm going to bail from this argument because we'll never agree.

Our D was ranked #1 that season and we won the superbowl because our D was beter than their O  (the better D usually being the superbowl winner).

I love aggressiveness and the blitz too, but you can't win by being one dimensional or over playing anything. Its a chess match, and you win by doing the unexpected and doing it well. We made the big plays at the key moments and as such won it all. Don't forget the D scored 7 points too.

Yes, our O scored the winning drive late, but they might not have had to if they hadn't taken a safety the previous failed drive.

You win a superbowl on both sides of the ball (usually) and to say our D last year was bad is simply a joke. I'm done flogging this one.

They called a BS penalty on Hartwig.  That wasn't a penalty.

OK...time for a Steelers quiz:  If Ben Roethlisberger's 3rd down pass to Holmes would have been incomplete, and no penalty called, what happens next on 4th down?

Incomplete on 3rd down? You send in one of the most reliable kickers in the league to attempt a 23 yd FG to tie the game on 4th down. Then you kick-off LONG (no problems with the KO coverage team last year) and stop the Cards for 30 seconds sending the Super Bowl to overtime for the first time ever. Now you win the overtime coin toss and drive down the field and win the game without giving the Cards a chance at the ball in OT. Any other premise is unnacceptable.  Grin

Of course, Ben's and Santonio's Super Bowl winning pass/catch was on second down, making all this just useless baiting blabber. Roll Eyes

WRONG answer.  You don't kick field goals from your own 1 yard line.

Gotta follow the thread boys.

Are you sure we are talking about the game winning drive in the 4th quarter of Super Bowl 43? Between the Steelers and Cardinals? Are you saying you would have gone for it on 4th and goal from the 6 yard line?Huh?  The winning pass to Santonio was a 6-yarder on second down, your premise of an incompletion on 3rd down still leaves the ball at the six yard line, thus 4th and goal from the 6, not a 4th and goal from the one. In my book that's a 23-24yd FG attempt to tie and force OT.

But you were probably talking about the drive that ended in a safety. Maybe I got confused by quotes like "Yes, our O scored the winning drive late, but they might not have had to if they hadn't taken a safety the previous failed drive." in the thread.  My apologies for offending your genius, however, you could have scored points by correcting me politely. Instead you went far the other way. Let it be known that if you called me 'boy' face to face it would be the last thing you ever said to anyone in your sorry life, you condescending asshole.
