Funny that you mention that, I just mowed my lawn. And for those of you that really believe global warming is man-made or man-aided: the last ice age ended because of global warming.... and man wasn't around yet. Even if billions of grazing dinosaurs all farted it into oblivion, Al Gore is still what he is - a hypocrite and an alarmist-for-profit. Better or at least no worse than being a hypocrite and a hate-monger-for-profit. It's been rainy and a little chilly here but no snow. Thanks for sharing the pics though folks. I do miss it on a rare occasion. I don't miss trying to commute around or shovel it though.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/travel/bal-md.transportation07feb07,0,4979835.storyLet me draw your attention to the most moronic statement I've heard yet: Nathan Blake of Takoma Park was among those who spent their entire afternoon stuck in cars idling on I-95. Blake said in a phone interview from the highway at about 4:30 p.m. that he and his wife, Andrea, set out for home from Baltimore, where she had attended a conference, about 11:30 a.m. because they didn't want to pay for another night in a hotel room.
Just before noon, he said, he ran into the backup about a mile north of Route 100 in Howard County. Almost five hours later, they were still there - with no food and with water they didn't want to drink because of the absence of bathroom facilities.
"I'm hesitant to point the finger of blame at anyone but it does seem it could have been handled better," he said. At 5:25 p.m., highway crews finally cleared the way for him to make a U-turn and return to I-195. Umm, yeah you ignorant slut, it could have been handled better... you could have stayed the extra night instead of heading out in the middle of a blizzard. What a moron. And as far as how long they had to sit there, people have no clue what it takes to move this amount of snow. I wish he could spend a week in PA in a snowstorm; he'd think the Md. road crews were gods.

I wonder how much the motel decided to jack up the rates to take advantage of travellers?
Not that what this couple did was smart in any way,but I wouldn't put it past the motel owners or management of being greedy and taking advantage of people, and were that the case I could see somebody getting pissed off and telling them to shove it and trying to get home.
Plus, people are stupid to start with,it amazes me to see people zip-assing down the roads as if they can dive like they are Richard Petty at Daytona when it rains or snows really hard, thinking that they are invincible behind the wheel, and then they crash like they are hippos on ice skates.

You mean there are still people who scream at the first big snowfall or cold snap - "so much for global warming, that proves it" ? I really thought we'd moved beyond that but I guess not. Biggest mistake was calling it "warming". The "climate change" label came too late.
Dudes, like Lori said its all about changing the weather patterns not what time of year it is. More snow in some areas is part of the equation. You want evidence of global warming watch the winter olympics. No snow, nada. Not a flake. Trucking it in from higher elevations and the interior. The trees are already blooming here on Vancouver Island. Spring's always early here but this is freakin' ridiculous.
What's happening is the gulf stream's warmer. More El Nino and such. Bigger storms. More floods. More tornados. Katrina type stuff. Big snow dumps on the east coast. But you can't measure it one year at a time. Its overall trends. Sure, Gore made money off of it - and his own carbon footprint places him squarely in the hypocrit category - but the trend is undeniable and based on real science. The only question is what do you do with it? No way we'll stop it regardless of which side you believe so we'll have to adapt to it. North American wine should improve, but if you like water, don't move to Phoenix.

i believe in climate change. So much, that the climate has been changing on this planet for the past 1,000,000,000(1 billion) years. To bad that man has only been burning fossil fuel for the past 250 years...... Geologists hace proven beyond any doubt that the glaciers have been coming and going for the last 100,000,000 years. At one point in Earths history, the arctic and antarctic ice nearly reached the equator.
THe climate will always be in change, welcome to a living planet.
Al Gore is a fool, global warming has happened, will happen, but so will global cooling.

By the way, I agree on global warming. It will happen all by itself. So, why do we have to help it along?

Al Gore is a fool, global warming has happened, will happen, but so will global cooling.
Hypocrit and media whore sure. Egotist definitely. But fool, only in his campaign strategy. Otherwise, pretty smart dude. The historical counter argument fails to address the issue of time. As amwreck says here "why do we have to help it along". The same geological core samples show you the accelerated pace of things. And then you're left with the complete failure to deal with what's coming (be it "natural" in your argument or caused by us) and the lack of will to make any changes that aren't based in immediate gratification. Sure it'll cool again, but that'll be after civilization as we know it is long gone.

I was being facetious with the Al Gore comment. And actually, I care more about this next damned storm coming in tomorrow night than anything; up to 20 inches. Killing me. Btw, this ain't pittsburgh and we just aren't used to it - not the state government or anyone else for that matter. The roads as of half an hour ago are still horrrrible.
